Resisting criminalisation: MP engagement workshop
The London Harm Reduction Collective and Anyone’s Child are pleased to invite you to their co-led workshop on methods and tactics for strategic engagement with MPs. Across different movements that member organisations of LHRC work on (drug policy reform, sex work decriminalisation, and prison abolition) we join to fight for an end to the disastrous consequences of criminalisation on our communities.
On the 16th of June, we will walk through the basics of drafting an effective message to your MP, including how to do background research on your area of concern and incorporate that into your writing. We will then give tips and tricks for meeting your MP about your issues of concern and making that meeting memorable for them as well as less stressful for you!
We will provide support during the session for sending your MP an email if you haven’t done so before, and we will do some London-specific research on the topics we work across so that you don’t have to!
Details on the location will be provided upon registration - Spots are limited so sign up HERE soon! If you have any questions or access requirements, reach out to one of the organisers (Transform, Anyone’s Child, Release, and DecrimNow).
This event takes place ahead of actions by members of the Collective marking Support. Don’t Punish day:
24/06: 10th anniversary of the Anyone’s Child campaign — Memorial, workshops and lobby day in Parliament,
26/06: Demonstration Overdose Prevention Site — Naloxone training, harm reduction stall, and model community OPS.
